New Members Are WelcomeThe Hot Diggity Dogs Agility Club was formed to learn and practice NADAC agility. Many members use the club's activities to practice their skills for trials, while others simply enjoy non-competitive time with their dog(s). The club is a home for anyone interested in agility, whether you want to trial and compete, or just like to practice your skills and participate in community demos. |
Member BenefitsThe club meets Wednesdays at 7pm. We rent a heated arena and set up the club practice equipment. If you are considering becoming a member, we encourage you to come out to one of our practice nights, to get an idea of how we spend our time! (Email us at hotdiggitydogsrd@gmail.com to set up a visit.) Club members in good standing also get to participate in club demos, purchase club clothing at a discount, and register in our agility summer camp. We also offer junior memberships at a reduced fee to handlers under 16. |
Membership RequirementsWhile most of our members have dogs who are active in the sport of agility, this is not a membership requirement. Many members who are not currently handling dogs still maintain their association and are invaluable in helping host club events and in planning activities. - All members are required to meet the club's participation standards, which could include attending meetings and volunteering at club events. - All dogs and handlers using the club equipment must be in training for, or have completed a basic level agility class. If you're looking for agility classes to attend, check out our links page; some of our own club members offer lessons in the Red Deer area. -All members must pay their membership fees in full. Our club membership runs from January 1 to December 31. All membership renewal fees are due on December 31. New members are welcome to join at any time in the calendar year. |
Becoming a MemberFor the safety of all animals, we require that any dogs attending practices and demos be evaluated by an experienced club member first. They will be assessed for basic obedience skills, (sit, stay and come), as well as socialization, to make sure they are not a danger to other dogs, or their handlers. This should be arranged prior to your dog attending club events. If you would like to learn more about our club, or arrange to attend a practice or meeting, please contact us by email at hotdiggitydogsrd@gmail.com. |
Agility Lesson FAQs- The average dog's age when starting agility lessons is 8 months & up, depending on their level of obedience training. Older dogs are also welcome! - Your dog should be able to sit, stay, down, walk on a loose leash, and demonstrate good recall. (This means he or she enthusiastically comes when called.) - To become a club member, the dogs must have a level 2 minimum skill level in agility. If they have had previous agility instruction then an evaluation can be done by a club member. Interested in agility lessons? Check out the teachers listed on our Links page! |
